The State Climate and Energy Program helps states develop clean energy policies and programs, which can reduce energy costs, improve air quality and public health, and help achieve economic development goals. EPA provides states with and advises them on proven, cost-effective best practices, peer exchange opportunities, and analytical tools.
- State Climate and Energy Partnership Program — EPA works with states to develop, implement, and measure the progress of state-specific clean energy programs and policies on a voluntary basis. The 15 states in the partnership represent about half the population, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions in the United States.
- State Best Practices — States and related stakeholders use best practices to learn about and plan policies and programs that integrate clean energy into a cost-effective, cleaner, and more reliable energy system for their state.
- State Clean Energy Policy Maps — These maps provide a summary of progress to date on state clean energy policies, relevant detail on individual state policies, and links to further information.
- State Technical Forum — State officials and EPA staff use this series of conference calls and materials to foster peer-to-peer exchanges on clean energy policies and program design, implementation, and evaluation.
