Research Project:
Fhb Epidemiology on Spring Wheat in South Dakota
Project Number: 0500-00053-002-29
Project Type:
Grant
Start Date: May 03, 2004
End Date: May 02, 2009
Objective:
Determine the effect of low, medium, and high levels of natural FHB inoculum on disease incidence/severity. Continue data collection on environmental parameters and field disease from around the state (South Dakota) for validation of currently proposed models and development of new models.
Approach:
Determine disease incidence/severity, percent Fusarium damaged kernels and toxin levels in grain and correlate with residue inoculum levels and field disease levels. Cooperate with the South Dakota State Climatologist and expand the current weather data set to provide support to a multi-state FHB risk assessment/forecast system in development at the Pennsylvania State University.
FY06 Titles:
1. Environmental factors Influencing Scab of Barley in the Great Plains and Midwest
2. FHB Forecasting and Model Validation for Spring and Winter Wheat in South Dakota
