Research Project: CHARACTERIZATION OF RESISTANCE TO FUSARIUM HEAD BLIGHT IN WHEAT AND ITS RELATIVES Project Number: 0500-00053-001-84
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: May 01, 2003
End Date: Apr 30, 2008

Objective:
Identification of triticum dicoccoides accessions that are resistant to FHB. Develop effective measures needed to control FHB.

Approach:
Screen a population of over 4000 individuals for recombination within Qfhs.ndsu-3AS.segment using flanking molecular markers; develop a saturated map of Qfhs.ndsu-3AS region; Determine the physical to genetic distance ratio within the Qfhs.ndsu-3AS region. Identify novel sources of resistance to FHB from the wheat-alien species derivatives that are currently available characterize alien chromatin conferring resistance to FHB in the wheat-alien species derivatives. FY06 Titles: 1. Enhancing Resistance to Fusarium Head Blight in Wheat using Alien Species 2. Fine Mapping of QFHS.NDSU-3AS in Durum
