ALEARN

Recreational uses of Alabama’s water resources (fishing, boating, swimming, wildlife watching, waterfowl hunting, etc.) are important to the culture and the economy of the state.  Anglers spend nearly a billion dollars annually in the state in support of fishing activities.  There are more than 50,000 private ponds in the state managed at least in part for recreation.  Much of the tourism that is vital to Alabama’s economy is tied to recreational opportunities in and around water.  Hopefully, both the end users and the folks that help provide recreational activities on public and private waters will find useful information on this site.
