Lehigh Libraries' Corporate Information Service
The Lehigh University Libraries' Corporate Information Service is a subscription service for business and other non-affiliated library users. It is designed to make library collections at Lehigh accessible for current and retrospective research. The Information Service provides information retrieval, document delivery, and research services via phone, fax or e-mail to its subscriber companies. The Service utilizes the one million volume plus collections at Lehigh, web accessible resources and commercial database and document delivery services. The Service draws on the expertise of Lehigh librarians accustomed to managing and retrieving technical information.Included in the subscription is full use of the circulating collections at Lehigh. This means that subscriber company staff may visit the library anytime the library is open and, upon presentation of their corporate borrowing card, charge out library materials for twenty-eight days. Library collections are fully described and their status (in the library, charged out, on order) noted on ASA, Lehigh's Library Catalog. The service also will retrieve items from the stacks and mail materials to subscribers.
The annual subscription fee is one thousand dollars and is non-refundable. Fees for services are noted below. Turnaround is typically two business days for materials held at Lehigh; rush service is available.
The service was started in 1980 and serves organizations large and small in the Lehigh Valley Region. Subscribers have included Ben Franklin Partnership startup's as well as Fortune 500 companies. The service is a part of Lehigh University's commitment to partnership and liaison with industry.
