Junior Ranger Program
The Junior Ranger Program is for young people interested in our national parks. If you are planning a visit to Denali National Park & Preserve, and learning about the wildlife, wilderness, and people of Denali sounds like fun, then this program is for you. The Denali National Park & Preserve Junior Ranger Program is designed to be completed cooperatively with parents or other adults. It is a great way for families to discover Denali together.
What is a Junior Ranger?
Junior Rangers help park rangers with their jobs. Park rangers are responsible for the park, the resources within the park (such as trees, caribou, and mountains), and the people who visit the park. A Junior Ranger has to learn about Denali National Park & Preserve, share this knowledge with other people, and teach people to care for wild and special places such as Denali. As a Junior Ranger, as long as you care about Denali, you can help protect its future. A Junior Ranger has a very important job.

How do you become a Junior Ranger?
There are two ways to become a Denali National Park and Preserve Junior Ranger!
Visit the park! Junior Ranger Activity Guide
When you arrive in Denali National Park & Preserve, stop by the Denali Visitor Center, Toklat Contact Station, Murie Science and Learning Center or the Talkeetna Ranger Station to get your free Junior Ranger Activity Guide. There is an activity guide for children ages nine to fourteen years and another for children ages four to eight years. In the activity guide, you will find activities and information about the park and its resources. Your training includes a variety of activities, which you can do in any order you like. Then, show your completed activity guide to a ranger at a Denali Visitor Center, Toklat Contact Station, Muries Science and Learning Center or the Talkeetna Ranger Station, where you’ll recite the Junior Ranger Pledge, sign the Junior Ranger Certificate, and receive your official Junior Ranger Badge. You can take your activity guide home to help you share your Denali experience with your friends.
