Additional Information About the Eastern Interior RMP

When completed and approved, the Eastern Interior RMP will replace three existing BLM land use plans: the White Mountains National Recreation Area RMP (1986), the Steese National Conservation Area RMP (1986), and the Fortymile Management Framework Plan (1980). (These and other documents relevant to the Eastern Interior RMP may be found on the Planning Documents page.) The new plan will also provide an RMP for BLM lands in the upper Black River and greater Fairbanks area that are not currently covered by an existing land use plan.

The vast planning area for the Eastern Interior RMP includes thousands of parcels of BLM-managed public lands. The largest of these are the following components of the National Landscape Conservation System:

A Notice of Intent to prepare an amendment for the White Mountains National Recreation Area RMP was published in the Federal Register March 15, 2005. This amendment was never completed, however two scoping meetings were held in Fairbanks in 2005. The scoping report for these meetings can be found on the planning documents page.
