Research Methodology

Research Methodology is a portfolio area within HSR&D that encourages new and improved methodological approaches to health services research. A main objective of the Research Methodology portfolio is to ensure advances in tools, methods and measures to support future health services research efforts and evidence based health care practices. Recent Research Methodology projects evaluate measurement and screening techniques in a variety of content areas including: aging, cancer, mental illness, diabetes, military exposure, telemedicine and chronic disease management. Projects in this portfolio focus on methods for analyzing or evaluating costs related to veteran's healthcare, guidelines for care and organizational issues. Methods recently used in the studies include biostatistical, econometric, psychometric, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed quantitative and qualitative. Research Methodology is an HSR&D priority as described in the current Program Announcement of HSR&D Priorities.
