Student Loan Repayments Available (Veterinary Medical Officer)
FSIS offers student loan repayments to all newly hired veterinarians.

Under this program, individuals with qualifying student loans receive payments of up to $10,000 per person per year for two years, for a total student loan payment of up to $20,000. The amount, minus any applicable taxes, is applied to the student loan debt directly.

Participants must be new to the federal government or have had a break of service of at least 90 days. They must also sign a three year service agreement. Loan repayments using appropriated funds are made through the existing Student Loan Repayment Authority (5 U.S.C. 5379), USDA Departmental Regulations (DR 4050-537), and FSIS Directive 4537.1.
