Nebraska Drought Planning

The Nebraska Climate Assessment Response Committee formally adopted the state Drought Mitigation and Response Plan on June 26, 2000. The plan is a revision of a document published in 1990 for use by what was then known as the Drought Assessment and Response Team (DART).

CARC, which was created by law in 1991 to replace DART, began the drought plan revision in 1998 at the urging of the National Drought Mitigation Center, housed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. For a more complete history of drought planning in Nebraska, please go to Page 1 of the Drought Mitigation and Response Plan.
