Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is selection and development of a Dactylis glomerata (Orchardgrass) population having tolerance to stress (drought, heat, and low nitrogen input). Purpose is to develop a broadbased tetraploid Dactylis glomerata population with adaptation and persistence to the environmental extremes of Oklahoma.
Approach:
A classic mass selection approach will be applied to the present population, followed by physical removal of undesirable plants. The population will be rogued for undesirable individuals and seed increased in a two-year cycle.
