Fight for Japan Beef Market Intensifies, U.S. Share Pressured
Prior to the detection of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) in Japan, Australia and Canada were already challenging the U.S. market share in Japan's beef market. The decrease in beef consumption as a result of BSE and the decrease in demand for beef imports compounds this challenge to U.S. beef.
