Greece! ... Italy!! ... and Wales!?!

Purdue Study Abroad and Arcadia University Center for Education Abroad will be hosting an information session on three terrific programs that will surely appeal to many students. The Information Session will be on Wednesday, January 28, 4:30 - 5:20 p.m. in KRAN G002.

Students interested in art, design, Italian language, Italian culture and integration with Italian and international students in the classroom can spend the summer or semester studying at the Accademia Italiana in Florence, Italy.

Students who are interested in exploring Greek life and culture and Greece's contributions to our cultural and political traditions can spend a semester or summer studying in Athens with field study to places such as the island of Samos, Olympia, Delphia, and Nemea, and the cities of Corinth, Sparta, Syracusa, and Messene.

For students who are eager to experience being a regular student for a semester or year in a British university, then check out Swansea UniversityLocated on the southwest coast of Wales and at one end of the sweeping Bay of Swansea, the university offers students a wonderful seaside playground with a flexible and comprehensive academic program. The campus is modern and compact and right on the coast. With unspoiled, golden beaches, picturesque villages, numerous coastal trails and a university with strengths in math, sciences, and the liberal arts, Swansea is an excellent study abroad destination.

Study Business and Communication in Italy

An information session for the CIMBA-Italy program for Management, Industrial Engineering, and Communication students will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in RAWL 4054.  This is a Krannert- and Communication Department-preferred summer or semester program in picturesque Paderno del Grappa, Italy.  Located at the base of majestic Mount Grappa, the program is based on the campus of the Istituto Filipin.  Students take courses in Business, Economics, Journalism, Communication Studies and Italian, and have the opportunity to earn certificates that will enhance their resume and provide them with exceptional learning opportunities.

Weekly Walk-in Sessions: General Information about Study Abroad

Every Tuesday and Wednesday students may come to 105 Young Hall  from 2:30 to 3:20 p.m. to learn all about studying overseas:  where and when you can go, what you can study, how much it costs, what application requirements need to be completed.

Scholarships for Study in Germany

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) invites highly qualified undergraduates to apply for scholarships to help cover the costs of studying or completing internships in Germany.  Students participating in exchange or co-sponsored programs are eligible.  Funding includes a monthly stipend, health insurance and a travel grant.  The application deadline is January 31, 2009 for fall 2009, spring 2010 or the 2009-2010 academic year.  Link here for details about the program and application procedures.  Purdue undergraduates who plan to apply for a semester or academic year in Germany are eligible; the study abroad office will assist students with the application.

The Office of Programs for Study Abroad is dedicated to internationalizing Purdue by helping as many students as possible have overseas experiences that enrich lives, enhance academic achievement and increase career potential.  The study abroad staff helps students overcome academic, financial, or personal concerns that might prevent them from going abroad and they are especially devoted to removing obstacles for first-time participants.
