Research Information

Education:

B.S., Natural Resources, University of Wisconsin, Madison, 1985; M.S., Forestry, University of Wisconsin, Madison, 1987; Ph.D., Natural Resources, University of New Hampshire, Durham, 1991

Current Research:

Regional to continental scale forest modeling including forest hydrology, productivity, resource economics, and wildlife and forest diversity. Emphasis is given to model interactions and response of forests to global climate change and other environmental stresses including ozone, nitrogen deposition, and atmospheric CO2.Other research includes the influence of forest management practices on forest hydrology, productivity, and spatially explicit soil erosion.

Collaborative Research:

Collaboration is especially important in this research because of the work's large scale, diversity of studies, and integrated national scale modeling.Soil sediment research is being jointly conducted with North Carolina State University, Alabama A&M, other Southern Research Station Work Units, and Beijing Forestry University.Regional to continental scale forest modeling is being conducted jointly with North Carolina State University, University of New Hampshire, University of Minnesota, Duke University, University of Oregon, University of Alabama, and other Southern Research Station Work Units.
