Academic scholarships for new first year students are awarded based on academic achievement, activities participation, and leadership. Few scholarships are based on financial need.

To be considered for new student SDSU academic scholarships applicants must be accepted for admission and complete the SDSU New Student Academic Scholarship Application. Students do not need to complete any other application.

Students need to complete the application since certain scholarships are awarded only to students from specific geographical areas, pursuing specific majors, and other criteria. Students are encouraged to submit their scholarship application by our Scholarship Priority Date--January 25.

Those students who were either admitted after January 25th or have not yet submitted their scholarship application are still encouraged to apply for academic scholarships. Their scholarship application will enter into consideration as soon as they are received. We will begin notifying students in late March/early April of any academic scholarship they may have received for the coming year.

You can download and then print a scholarship application below. If you have problems downloading the application, download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader at the bottom of this page.

Native American Student Scholarship awards have been designated for specific criteria.

Upper-Level SDSU Student Scholarships
To find out more about specific scholarship opportunities, upper-level students will want to investigate scholarships relating to their college and major at University Scholarships. They can do this by visiting with their major department.

In addition, they may check out our current list of Non-SDSU scholarships on the web or the postings outside the Financial Aid Office, located in the Administration Building, 106. Applications for many of those scholarships can be picked up inside the Financial Aid Office.

Transfer Student Academic Scholarships
You can download and print the form below. The one application will be sent to your major department to be considered for academic scholarship awards. Transfer students who send their application before or by the priority deadline--January 25--will receive priority consideration for all awards.
