Welcome to the Department of
Bioresources Engineering

Welcome to the Department of Bioresources Engineering.  The department responds to the needs of the state and region through improving the level of agriculture production; promoting efficient use of resources devoted to the production and processing of agricultural products; improving the quality of our environment; and educating students to meet the technical needs of industry and society for a highly trained workforce. Our mission has three components:  instruction/education; research; extension and outreach.

Our nine-member faculty takes pride in its commitment to excellence in undergraduate education as demonstrated in the TAC/ABET accredited program in Engineering Technology. This program combines technical skills and scientific and engineering knowledge to solve problems associated with manufacturing processes, construction design, project management, machinery systems and environmental and water resources issues.

Faculty research interests lie in a variety of application-oriented projects.  Some of the research projects include machine vision, vehicle modification, wastewater irrigation, irrigation water management, stormwater management, inside environment for animals and plants, sensors, nonpoint source pollution and animal manure management.

The department provides extension and outreach programs in irrigation management, poultry housing and environmental management, industrial and agricultural safety, vegetable harvesting and 4-H.
