Sustainable Development Institute History

The Sustainable Development Institute (SDI) was established in 1993 to encourage, promote, and build upon the Menominee approach to sustainable development.

In the formation of the Sustainable Development Institute, College of Menominee Nation with community partners formed the Menominee Advisory Council on Sustainable Development, which developed research, education, and community engagement goals and strategies for sustainable development. These set the Institute’s overall strategic direction and goals, along with the College of Menominee Nation’s strategic plans, goals, and objectives.
