National Gallery of Art
From October through June, the National Gallery of Art presents Sunday evening concerts in the West Garden Court of the West Building.
Military band concerts
During warm weather months, outdoor military band concerts can be heard on the Capitol steps and at the Sylvan Theatre on the Washington Monument grounds.
Parades
Constitution Avenue on the north side of the Mall is the route for parades marking St. Patrick's Day, the Fourth of July, and the Cherry Blossom Festival
Memorials
Bring the day to a memorable close by visiting the dramatically lighted memorials to Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington.
Celebrations
Numerous annual and ethnic celebrations take place near the National Mall area, such as the Smithsonian Kite Festival in March, a day-long competition of handmade entries; and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in June/July, 8-10 days of ethnic and occupational traditions expressed in music, dance, and crafts.
