Corpscon Version 6.0 |
Corpscon, Version 6.0, is a
MS-Windows-based program which allows the user to convert
coordinates between Geographic, State Plane, Universal Transverse
Mercator (UTM) and US National Grid systems on the North American
Datum of 1927 (NAD 27), the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83)
and High Accuracy Reference Networks (HARNs). Corpscon uses the
National Geodetic Survey (NGS) program Nadcon to convert between NAD
27, NAD 83 and HARNs. Corpscon, Version 6.0, performs vertical
conversions to and from the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929
(NGVD 29) and the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88).
Vertical conversions are based on the NGS program Vertcon and can be
performed for the continental U.S. only. Corpscon, Version 6.0, will
also calculate geoid-ellipsoid separations based on the NGS program
GeoidXX (XX = 90, 93, 96, 99, and 03). Geoid-ellipsoid separations
can be calculated for the Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii and
Puerto Rico/U.S. Virgin Islands.

Changes between Version 5.x and 6.x |
There were several changes made to the Version
6.x of Corpscon to allow flexibility for new and future Geoid
models, Nadcon files, and Vertcon files. A summary of changes are as
follows:
- Selection of Geoid model used for conversion (90, 93, 96, 99,
and 03)
- Selection of custom Vertcon or Geoid files (if available)
- Conversion to/from National Grid Reference System (NGRS)
- Increased number of fields for User Defined files
- Accuracy statement of conversions
- Redesigned interface
- Help for selecting correct State Plane and UTM zones
- dll for inclusion in other software
- Improved documentation and user’s manual
Version 5.x
is still available by clicking here |
New Excel version of Corpscon
Now available - Beta version of Corpscon that runs inside of Excel. Paste your input data to the input worksheet,
identify your conversion preferences in the setup worksheet, and your output is stored on the output worksheet
ready for additional calculations using the Excel built-in functions. Caution - This version has not been tested and may
produce erroneous results.

Downloading and Installing
Corpscon 6.x |
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
REQUIREMENTS
Corpscon 6.0 has been tested on a 166MHz,
Pentium machine running Windows98SE with 64 MB of RAM and a screen
area of 800x600 pixels. Corpscon 6.0 should run on Windows95, but it
has not been tested with this operating system. Corpscon will not
run on any 16-bit versions of Windows (Windows 3.1 or below) and it
will not run under DOS.
INSTALLATION
PROCEDURES
Corpscon6_update
File - This file should be downloaded only if you have a
downloaded Corpscon prior to April 26, 2005. If the install files
were downloaded after April 26, 2005, then they already include the
corrected files. To install this update, extract these files to the
directory in which Corpscon 6.0 was installed. If the default
installation was used, this directory is 'C:\Program
Files\Corpscon6\'. If prompted, overwrite the existing files in the
directory. You cannot run Corpscon with this zip file alone. You
must have already downloaded one of the distributions listed
below.
Issues Resolved: 4/26/05 - Error in resolving
certain USNG zones. Unit conversion problem when using International
Feet in Vertical conversions.
There are five Corpscon setup
(install) files:
- corpscon_complete.exe(104
MB, 140 MB installed) - installs all the Geoid and Vertcon data
files, including Alaska (don’t recommend this without high speed
connection and still might take a while)
- corpscon_conus_geoxx.exe
(84 MB, 115 MB installed) - installs all the Geoid and Vertcon
files for conversions within CONUS
- corpscon_conus_geo03.exe
(42 MB, 60 MB installed) - installs only the Geoid03 and Vertcon
files for conversions within CONUS
- corpscon_base_alaska.exe
(7 MB, 20 MB installed) - installs only the those files for
horizontal conversions (no Geoid or Vertcon data files), including
Alaska
- corpscon_base_conus.exe
( 6 MB, 19 MB installed) - installs only the those files for
horizontal conversions (no Geoid or Vertcon data files) within
CONUS only.
To install Corpscon, run
corpscon_*.exe
(* = one of the options listed above)
from CD or from the
directory on the local hard disk where the program was downloaded.
Follow the prompts in the setup program to complete installation.
Geoid, Vertcon, and other data files may be downloaded separately
and copied to the appropriate directory by following the program
directory structure listed below if downloading an install file
other than the complete (first option above).
If you are
experiencing a problem with Alaska Zone 1 and downloaded
Corpscon v6.0 before 16 December, please download this new
file, corpscon_v6.dll
or corpscon_v6_dll.zip.
Save this new file (for the zipped file, extract contents of the
file - corpcon_v6.dll) to the Corpscon6 directory, typically
C:\Program Files\Corpscon6, and overwrite the existing one. If you
download Corpscon v6.0 after 16 December, this fix has already been
incorporated into the distribution files.
