The Legislative Affairs Department strives to assist the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe by proactively protecting Tribal sovereignty through the promoting of the legislative agenda of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Council at the national, state, and local levels of government.
The Legislative Affairs Department further seeks to nurture, develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with government officials so as to insure the successful long-term development of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe.
The Legislative Affairs Department is unique in that it serves to protect the sovereignty, culture, and values of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe by establishing the Tribe as a key political entity with national, state, and local governments.
Attention: The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal Council received notification of the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs report regarding the activities of Jack Abramoff, Michael Scanlon and former Tribal Legislative Director Dr. Christopher Petras.
