The Agricultural Service Team

In December 1995, Lt. Governor Nancy P. Hollister announced an agreement to create an agricultural service team comprised of representatives from several state and federal agencies.

"This agreement was the product of a strong state desire to protect the long-term viability of Ohio's livestock industry, our environment, and the health and safety of Ohio residents," she said. "Agriculture is a good neighbor, and Ohio's farmers who carefully comply with state environmental regulations to protect our resources deserve our assistance."

The service team's mission is to advise producers and other entities on livestock facility expansion or initiation and other issues.

"We believe this agricultural service team will reduce the opportunities for environmental interests and economic decisions to collide, and will permit us to strike a careful balance for farmers and their neighbors," Hollister said.

The service team includes representatives from the Ohio Departments of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Development, Ohio EPA, Ohio State University Extension and USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service.
