International Program
PPFA is dedicated to overcoming barriers to accessing reproductive health services and exercising reproductive rights by empowering this generation and the next, worldwide.
Despite tremendous advances in medicine, thousands of women in developing countries continue to die each year from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth, while millions more suffer from sexual violence and sexually transmitted infections. Learn more about international reproductive health issues and how to get involved.
The PPFA International Program addresses these challenges through innovative projects in 17 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Initiated in 1971 as the U.S. government’s largest provider of family planning commodities in the developing world, today we rely solely on private funding, which gives us the flexibility to carry out truly cutting-edge work. Headquartered in New York, we have regional offices in Miami, Florida; Bangkok, Thailand; and Nairobi, Kenya.
PPFA works in places where we believe we can have the greatest impact. We currently support local organizations, health care providers, and advocates in Benin, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Sudan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uganda.
