Arsel:This
is Arsel, vocalist of the group "Cielo Azul".
Jenny:And
Jenny Rodriguez of the University of California Agricultural
Health and Safety Center.
Arsel:Every
year in California 40 workers die and 20,000 others are injured
in accidents.
Jenny:Almost
half of those deaths and injuries are due to accidents involving
motor vehicles such as cars, vans, and trucks. Often it is
the case of persons driving without a driver's license and
without knowing traffic laws.
Arsel:People
come from other countries as I did, where things are so different.
But here, a car is necessary. Most of those people do not
know the driving laws. If you do not understand traffic signs
and signals or what to do when an ambulance approaches with
its lights and siren on....
Jenny:...
Or how to drive in fog or in a dust storm,...Ask a friend.
Don't ignore it.
Arsel:Those
who have died never though it would happen to them. So..Get
with it and learn the laws!
Jenny:And
although you may not believe that it can save your life, or...It's
not the manly thing to do, or...You don't agree with the law......
Always use your seat belt and have your kids seatbelted, too.
Arsel:Jenny
and I always use ours, and you.....What are you waiting for?
Don't become one of this year's statistics.
