Educators share ideas and activities designed to get students interested in environment
Portland, Ore. – Space is available for area teachers and resource specialists interested in the free Energy and Society Workshop to be held Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Bonneville Lock and Dam.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is partnering with the Oregon Forestry Education Program to provide this great opportunity for teachers to learn about complex interactions between people and resources.
Participants will learn about fun activities they can do with their students and receive the Project Learning Tree Activity and Bonneville Dam Teacher guides, which will help students get excited and interested in learning more about their environment. The activities and resources are useful for classrooms, park-, day- and nature-camps or outdoor schools.
Space is limited so pre-register early for the workshop geared toward kindergarten through eighth grade teachers. To register or get more information, call the Bradford Island Visitor Center, (541) 374-8820 or register online at http://wwwdata.forestry.oregonstate.edu/ofep/calendar.aspx .
The Bradford Island Visitor Center is located at Exit 40 off Interstate 84. The Bonneville Lock and Dam is located in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, 40 miles east of Portland, Ore.
