Media Opportunity: Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day

Portland, Ore. - News media outlets wishing to cover Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day are invited to Robert Duncan Plaza, 333 S.W. First Ave., Portland. Children of employees for three federal agencies will participate in educational and fun activities during this year's Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day, April 22 from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m..

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is co-hosting the annual half-day event with the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Children will learn how to count tree rings, find out what kind of wildlife inhabits their corner of the world, and learn what artifacts can tell an archeologist about a lost civilization, to name just a few of the many activities that are planned.

The children will be divided into two age groups, with age-appropriate activities planned for each. The younger groups will learn about topics such as fire safety and Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery, while older students can learn about water safety and new computer software, to name just a few.
