Willamette Falls Locks summer operating schedule announced

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced the summer operating schedule for the Willamette Falls Locks in West Linn, Ore.

Starting Friday, May 11 and continuing through Sept. 30, the locks will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday through Monday. The locks will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The extended schedule was made possible by a collaborative agreement between the Corps and various local, state and private-sector partners. The group, brought together by Oregon Solutions, is also working to develop a plan for long-term operation of the locks.

Willamette Falls Locks is the oldest continuously operating multiple lift lock system in America and serves to transport river traffic past the 40-foot Willamette Falls.

Information on visiting the locks, how to lock a vessel through Willamette Falls Locks and how a lock works is available at https://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/wfl.
