Corps announces supplement to regional wetland manual; field tests and comments requested to finalize the document

PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced the availability of the Draft Western Mountains and Valleys Regional Supplement to the 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual. The draft was created by regional expert delineators with input from state, federal and local agencies, as well as academia and other local experts.

The Corps is seeking public input, including scientific information and/or data on the proposed hydrology, soil and vegetation indicators and data collection procedures in this draft document. To review the field testing protocols and review a copy of the Wetland Delineation Manual, please visit the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Portland District website at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil.

Comments must be submitted by July 17, 2007 to Katherine Trott (CECW-CO), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 441 G Street N.W., Washington, D.C., 20314-1000, or may be emailed to 1987Manual@usace.army.mil.

The Corps of Engineers will issue another public notice to announce publication of the final supplement and implementation date of the supplement.
