John Day navigation lock to close Sat., Dec. 21 for 8 hours

Portland, Ore. - The John Day navigation lock will close to river users between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sat., Dec. 20 to remove a damaged upstream lift gate according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Corps’ contractor had planned to remove the gate today during a planned lock closure, but was unable to complete the job. River users may lock through from 4 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday, and again after 4 p.m. on Saturday when the lock returns to 24-hour operations.
