PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing a permit application from Portland General Electric (PGE) requesting a Department of the Army permit for certain work in waters of the United States.
Public Notice 200500209 is requested by PGE. The project is located in Clackamas County, Ore. The proposed project would remove most facilities associated with the Bull Run Hydroelectric Project. These facilities include: Marmot Dam on the Sandy River, River Mile (RM) 30, the Little Sandy River diversion dam on the Little Sandy River, RM 1.7, Roslyn Lake, powerhouse and four generators on the Bull Run River, 3.1 miles of canals and tunnels leading from Marmot Dam to the Little Sandy River diversion dam to Roslyn Lake, and 1,400 linear feet penstocks running from Roslyn Lake to the powerhouse. The Corps of Engineers is soliciting comments from the public, federal, state and local agencies, Indian Tribes and other interested parties on these permit requests.
The Corps of Engineers will issue or deny any permit under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters.
The applicant has submitted a mitigation plan with the permit request. If a permit is issued, the Corps will decide on the appropriate and practicable compensatory mitigation for each proposed project.
