Corps reviews permit applications for Reedsport, Roseburg and Prineville, Ore.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing three permit applications requesting a Department of the Army permit for certain work in waters of the United States. The public notices regarding the permit applications listed here were issued during the week of July 7, 2005.

Public Notice 200400052, requested by the Bureau of Land Management, Coos Bay District. The project is located in the Deans Creek Elk Viewing Area near Reedsport, Ore. The project's purpose is to dredge an additional channel at the site for movement of water and fish. Comments must be received by Aug. 3, 2005. Public Notice 200500254, requested by LEMB Company. The project is located in Roseburg, Ore. The project's purpose is to develop 25.69 acres for construction of 46 single family residences, with associated streets and utilities. Comments must be received by Aug. 5, 2005. Public Notice 199499632, requested by SMAF Construction. The project is located in wetlands adjacent to an unnamed tributary to Ochoco Creek near Prineville, Ore. The project's purpose is to expand an industrial park that serves the Prineville area. Comments must be

received by Aug. 5, 2005. A copy of the public notice may be found at

The Corps of Engineers is soliciting comments from the public, federal, state and local agencies, Indian Tribes and other interested parties on these permit requests.

The Corps of Engineers will issue or deny any permit under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or under Section

10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.

If the applicants have submitted a mitigation plan with the permit request, it will be considered. If a permit is issued, the Corps will decide on the appropriate and practicable compensatory mitigation for each proposed project.
