Corps reviews proposed permit applications in Lake Oswego, Lebanon and Portland, Ore.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing three applications requesting Department of the Army permits for certain work in waters of the United States. The public notices regarding the permit applications listed here were issued during the week of June 6, 2005.

Public Notice 200500321, requested by the City of Lake Oswego, Department of Parks and Recreation. Project is located at Willamette River mile 20.4 in Lake Oswego, for the purpose of installing a new 10-foot by 290-foot concrete dock, to provide moorage and upland facilities for public recreational opportunities. Public Notice 200500307, requested by Lowe’s HIW, Inc. The project is located in Lebanon, Ore., for the purpose of constructing a distribution center to serve Lowe’s current and future retail stores in the Pacific Northwest. Comments must be received by July 8, 2005. A copy of the public notice may be found at https://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/notices/20050035.pdf.

Public Notice 200300624, requested by The Mayberry Group. The project is located adjacent to Webb Lake in Silverton, Ore., for the purpose of constructing housing lots for a new residential development. Comments must be received by July 11, 2005. The Corps of Engineers is soliciting comments from the public, federal, state and local agencies, Indian Tribes and other interested parties on these permit requests.

The Corps of Engineers will issue or deny any permit under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.

If the applicants have submitted a mitigation plan with the permit request, it will be considered. If a permit is issued, the Corps will decide on the appropriate and practicable compensatory mitigation for each proposed project.
