July 11 - 60th Anniversary celebration at Bonneville Dam!

Portland, Ore. -- - The public is invited - and we hope you'll want to tell your audience and cover -- the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers "Day of Celebration" at Bonneville Lock and Dam on the Columbia River 40 miles east of Portland tomorrow, July 11, 1998.

The men and women of the Corps are celebrating 60 years of service to the United States and the Northwest, and rededicating themselves and the Bonneville project to continued service in the 21st century. Bonneville Lock and Dam officially began operation on July 9, 1938.

The schedule of events, times and locations is attached. If you plan to cover the event and need assistance, please call today between 1 and 4 p.m.: Dawn Edwards, (503) 808-4510. Interviews with specific retirees also can be arranged at your request. If no special assistance is needed, simply come and mingle with the crowd.
