PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking comments on three applications for permits to conduct work in waters of the United States. The public notices regarding these permit applications were issued during the week of Oct. 20, 2008.
Public Notice NWP-2008-627 describes a proposal by Flowers Enterprises Inc. to fill 0.8 acre of wetlands at the east end of Willamette Street in Aumsville, Ore., to construct a residential subdivision. Comments must be received by Nov. 24.
Public Notice NWP-2008-143 describes a proposal by the Oregon Military Department to fill about 1.12 acres of existing wetlands and 0.36 acre of a drainage on Camp Withycombe in Clackamas, Ore., to construct a new Armed Forces Reserve Center. The proposal also includes 0.50 acre of previous wetland impacts. Comments must be received by Nov. 20.
Public Notice NWP-2008-504 describes a proposal by KSD Investment to fill 1.84 acres of wetlands along Sublimity Road S.E. east of Highway 22 in Sublimity, Ore., to construct buildings for commercial and retail purposes. Comments must be received by Nov. 24.
The Corps is soliciting comments on these proposals from the public; federal, state and local agencies; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties. The public notices which provide more information are available at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/public.asp.
The Corps issues or denies permits under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
