PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking comments on an application for a permit to conduct work in waters of the United States. The public notice regarding this permit application was issued during the week of Aug. 17, 2008.
Public Notice NWP-2008-388 describes a proposal by Gilbert LLC to discharge fill into up to 1.92 acres of wetlands abutting Burkhart and Oak creeks off 12th Street in Lebanon, Ore., in order to construct a mini-storage facility and associated driveways, utilities and infrastructure.
The applicant proposes to purchase credits from a mitigation bank to compensate for the project’s impacts.
The Corps is soliciting comments on this proposal from the public; federal, state and local agencies; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties. The public notice which provides more information is available at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/public.asp. Comments must be received by Sept. 21.
The Corps issues or denies permits under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
