PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting on May 29 to discuss its proposed 2008 water management plan for Lost Creek and Applegate reservoirs.
Corps project managers will discuss anticipated water levels and release needs for the summer and fall seasons, and a proposed plan for meeting those needs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel, 200 N. Riverside Ave., in Medford, Ore.
The Corps will consider input from federal, state and local agencies and interested members of the public before finalizing the plan in June.
An interagency group of state and federal agencies has already reviewed the Corps’ proposal. Representatives from some of those agencies will be at the meeting to answer questions.
The two reservoirs are part of the Corps’ Rogue River Basin Project, which provides flood damage reduction, fishery and wildlife enhancement, irrigation, improved water quality, municipal and industrial water supply, hydroelectric power production and recreation opportunities for the Rogue Valley.
