PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking comments on an application for a permit to conduct work in waters of the United States. The public notice regarding this permit application was issued during the week of March 23, 2008.
Public Notice NWP-2008-149 describes a proposal by Portland General Electric to build a new boat ramp over the existing ramp footprint in Perry South Campground at Lake Billy Chinook in Madras, Ore.
The proposal will impact 0.06 acre, including excavation of 85 cubic yards and placement of 150 cubic yards of fill material.
The Corps is soliciting comments on this proposal from the public; federal, state and local agencies; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties. The public notice which provides more information is available at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/public.asp. Comments must be received by April 28.
The Corps issues or denies permits under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
