Portland, Ore.--The Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, today opened Cascades Island to anglers for spring salmon fishing.
The Cascades Island opening is in effect immediately. Fishing areas will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days per week until May 20 when the hours will be extended to 9 p.m. Cascades Island will close to fishing on Sept. 22, 2001. Cascades Island is in Washington state.
The Bradford Island, Robins Island, Tanner Creek and Hamilton Island fishing areas are also open to the public during the same hours. Hamilton Island is in Washington, the other fishing access areas are in Oregon.
The public is asked to be aware that bank access on a portion of the north side of Bradford Island is restricted for safety reasons and to respect closed areas. The safety zone is posted.
