** UPDATE OF NEWS RELEASE PA 97-01 **

Portland, Ore-- Reservoir regulators with the Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have announced increases in water releases from Applegate and Lost Creek dams. Continued accumulations of rain runoff behind the dams forced this move. Lost Creek Lake is now under special regulation procedures.

At 2:30 p.m. today dam operators at Applegate increased water releases from 8,675 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 12,000 cfs. Likewise, operators at Lost Creek have increased releases from 500 cfs to 1,000 cfs. Releases at Lost Creek are being handled through the dam's regulating outlet.

The Corps issued a news release earlier today announcing the increased releases (News release PA 97-01). The information in that release is still accurate with the exception of the inflow and discharge amounts. A graph at the end this release has the most up-to-date figures.

Area residents and local authorities have been notified of these increased releases.
