Portland, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hopes you will take advantage of an opportunity to see firsthand and learn about the improvements expected to increase juvenile survival through Bonneville Lock and Dam by 6 percent to 13 percent. This opportunity will help you gain an understanding of the ways improvements to the juvenile bypass system fit into the big picture of fish survival on the Columbia River.
Recent negative coverage is not the whole story. Avian predation problems are being solved and initial assessments support the value of the new outfall.
Please come hear what we have to say at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 1999. Meet us at the Bonneville Project Office (take exit 40 from I-84) at 10 a.m. Media representatives should wear sturdy shoes. Please call the Portland District, Public Affairs Office, (503) 808-4510, by 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, to sign up.
