Portland, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is evaluating an application to fill wetlands to complete construction of factory stores near Woodburn, Ore. As part of its permit evaluation process, the Corps is requesting public comments on the proposed project prior to making its determination on whether to issue or deny a permit for the work.
The work would consist of filling about an acre of wetland and stream to allow the second and third phases of construction of the Woodburn Factory Stores. The site is west of Interstate 5 and north of the Oregon Highway 214 interchange in Woodburn.
The Corps will consider whether the proposed project meets standards of the Clean Water and Endangered Species acts and will look at the overall impact of the project on the affected area. A permit will not be issued until consultations required under the Endangered Species Act have been completed.
