Portland, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is evaluating an application from Yamhill County Park and Recreation Division to expand and relocate the Rogers Landing public boat ramp near Newberg, Ore. As part of its permit evaluation process, the Corps is requesting public comments on the proposed project prior to making its determination on whether to issue or deny a permit for the work.
The work would consist of removing the existing boat ramp and constructing a new one 800 feet upstream. The current facility is in poor condition and the project would provide adequate public boating access while restoring a section of the Willamette River bank line.
The Corps will consider whether the proposed project meets standards of the Clean Water and Endangered Species acts and will look at the overall impact of the project on the affected area. The proposed project may impact endangered salmon or its critical habitat. A permit will not be issued until consultations required under the Endangered Species Act have been completed.
For a copy of the Corps’ Public Notice 2000-00413, which describes the proposed project in detail, please write to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, ATTN: CENWP-OP-GP, P.O. Box 2946, Portland, OR 97208-2946. A copy of the public notice is available on the Corps’ Internet site at https://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/notices/200000413.pdf. Photocopies of drawings supporting the proposed project are included in the public notice.
Written comments should reach the Corps by June 29, 2000, and should be mailed to
