Army Corps seeks input on reconstruction of boat ramp, floats

Portland, Ore.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is evaluating a permit application from Clatsop County Parks requesting authorization to reconstruct a county boat ramp and boarding floats in Cullaby Lake in Warrenton, Ore. The new ramp would be 36 feet wide and 70 feet long. Wooden boarding floats would be 6 feet wide and would extend 120 feet into the lake.

As part of its permit evaluation process, the Corps is requesting public review and comment on the proposed project prior to making its determination on whether to issue or deny a permit for the work.

The Corps will consider whether the proposed project meets standards of the Clean Water, Endangered Species and Coastal Zone Management acts and will look at the overall impact of the project on the affected area. The proposed project may impact endangered Salmon or its critical habitat. A permit will not be issued until consultations required under the Endangered Species Act are completed.

For a copy of the Corps' Public Notice, which describes the proposed project in detail, please write to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Attn: CENWP-OP-GP (Teena Monical), P.O. Box 2946, Portland, Oregon 97208-2946. Written comments should reach the Corps offices by June 14, 2000, and should be mailed to the address above or e-mailed to teena.g.monical@usace.army.mil.

The Corps also is soliciting input from federal, state and local agencies and officials, Native American tribes and other interested parties.
