Columbia River at Baker Bay, Washington

Aerial View of Baker BayAerial view of Baker Bay

Baker Bay is a shallow body of water about 15 miles square on the north side of Columbia River near its mouth. The bay is separated from the river by Sand Island, a low-lying sand bar only a few feet above high tide level.

The Bay houses wharves, floats, ramps, and berths, for fishing craft, barges and tow-boats. The small-boat basin and protecting breakwater provides moorings for numerous fishing and recreational craft year-round. The facilities are considered adequate for existing commerce.
