Leeds Original Manuscript Series Arrangements
in the collections of the Music Division, Library of Congress
Washington, DC 20540-4820
From 1940 to 1947 Leeds published a series of stock arrangements
-- sets of parts for jazz orchestra -- which it called its "Manuscript
Series." These stocks attempted to present music as performed by
various important jazz bands, rather than (as most stocks did)
present a version made accessible for the band of medium ability.
Some of the Leeds Manuscript Series is not represented in the Music
Division's collections: this list contains only those items which
have been located in the Division.
These arrangements in the Leeds Original manuscript Series have
been located in the Music Division and can be asked for by their
call numbers. Some arrangements in the Leeds Original Manuscript
Series were not deposited for copyright, since the tunes they were
based on were already protected by copyright; some others were
deposited for copyright but have not been located in the Music
Division's collections.
