Research Project: Development and Evaluation of Digital Thermometer/relative Humidity Recording Devices with Remote Downloading Capabilities

Location: Mosquito and Fly Research Unit

Project Number: 6615-32000-042-21
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 08, 2008
End Date: Jun 30, 2011

Objective:
To develop and evaluate digital thermometer/relative humidity recording devices which have remote downloading capabilities and software adapted for predicting selected insect breeding cycles.

Approach:
Digital thermometer/relative humidity devices will be developed for laboratory and field applications and evaluated by comparison to conventional equipment. Devices will be placed in selected locations and monitored for overall performance. Applicable software will be developed and appropriate transmission range will be determined. Software will be incorporated in the modules to predict the breeding speed of selected insect species.
