Research Project:
Engineering Bacteriophage Endolysins: Antimicrobials for Mastitis Pathogens That Are Refractory to Resistance Development
Location: Animal Biosciences and Biotechnology Laboratory
Project Number: 1265-31000-091-03
Project Type:
Reimbursable
Start Date: Aug 01, 2007
End Date: Aug 14, 2010
Objective:
Create a triple acting antimicrobial through the fusion of peptidoglycan hydrolase domains from bacterial sources.
Approach:
Through standard molecular techniques, fuse domains and test them for their efficacy against mastitis causing pathogens both in vitro and in vivo mouse models.
