Publication FAQs

Are publications available in hardcopy, as PDFs, or HTML?
Many publications are available online in PDF format, and some are available in HTML format or in hard copy as well. If a publication is available in hard copy, you can order a free copy.

How do I open Acrobat (PDF) files?
To learn more about PDF files and to download PDF files, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader software, which is available free of charge from Adobe. The HTML version alters the format of the original printed document. Using the PDF version will preserve the document's formatting and graphics.

How much do the publications cost?
All of CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health publications are free of charge. For international shipping, any applicable duty taxes or delivery charges are your responsibility.

Is there a limit to how many publications I can order?
If you're interested in more than three copies of a publication, please contact us with the quantity and title of the publication.

How long until I receive my order?
Please allow 4–6 weeks for delivery in the continental United States. International orders can take 6–8 weeks for shipping and handling.

How can I access or order CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR)?
We provide links to several reproductive health-related MMWR’s; however, you can also conduct a search on the MMWR Web site for past articles or to order a free subscription.

How can I find more information on CDC's published research?
We recommend that you review abstracts of reports and other publications by using the resources of the National Library of Medicine's PubMed service. PubMed is a searchable database that provides abstracts of biomedical articles and reports. You may also be able to obtain full text articles (some services may require subscriptions to view full text articles). If you are seeking less technical information, please use the National Library of Medicine's MedlinePlus, which offers a wide range of information on diseases, disorders, treatments, drugs and preventive services.
