Hello and welcome to the West Virginia University Division of Occupational Therapy. We are extremely proud of the occupational therapy education program at West Virginia University, which has the unique benefit of being part of a department in the School of Medicine. The Department of Human Performance and Applied Exercise Science of which the Division of Occupational Therapy is one component also includes the Divisions of Exercise Physiology and Physical Therapy. This administrative arrangement expands the Division of Occupational Therapy’s resources and opportunities for students.

The Division of Occupational Therapy has two “tracks” in our educational program: (1) the traditional on-site track, where students take courses in a traditional classroom format here at the Health Sciences campus, and (2) the distance education track for COTAs wanting to become OTs; AND for non-COTAS who possess a bachelor degree in any academic major received from an appropriately accredited college/university. In the distance education track’ students take much of their coursework via the internet and come to the WVU Health Sciences Campus in Morgantown, WV, approximately once a month for laboratory work, testing, presentations, coursework clarification lectures, and advisement.
