International Students

WVU is home to students and research scholars from more than 90 countries around the world. We are proud of the diversity on our campus, which is supported by traditional West Virginia hospitality and friendliness.

Besides the local community’s openness to international guests, its overall safety provides an ideal environment for newcomers to get acquainted with American culture.

Morgantown offers the conveniences and cultural opportunities of a big city in a small-town atmosphere, and is within driving distance of major cities like Pittsburgh, PA, and Washington, DC.

Graduate Admission

Admission requirements for master's and doctoral degree programs at WVU vary widely. It is important to carefully review the requirements for the program to which you seek admission, as well as the graduate admission requirements for demonstrating English language proficiency.

International students applying for graduate admission can apply online or download a copy of the application for graduate admission. Please note that applying to one of our professional schools requires a separate process; review our pages for health sciences programs (dentistry, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy) and law for information about applying to those programs.
