January

Weight Watchers at Work (Get more information about Weight Watchers)

Whether you’re looking to achieve significant, long-term weight loss or just trying to shed a few pounds, Weight Watchers at Work can help you effect a lifestyle change to assist you with your goal. If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is over 25, WorkLife Programs will pay for half of the $144 class fee if you attend 11 of 12 meetings. To calculate your BMI, visit www.purdue.edu/worklife. Participants are eligible for two incentive rounds in their lifetime. Due to the finish date of these sessions, they will qualify toward Healthy Purdue 2009.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Couples
Saturday, February 7

Every couple can benefit from this one-day course on communication and building trust. Get practical advice on solving the common dilemmas faced in intimate partnerships, learn to deal with family disputes, and take steps toward healing broken relationships. You may bring your own lunch, buy it at a Purdue West restaurant, or pitch in for Papa John's pizza.


Walking Program
Session I: Mondays, February 9-April 27 (12:10-12:50 p.m.), Armory
Session II: Tuesdays, February 10-April 28 (5:15-5:55 p.m.), RSC
Session III: Wednesdays, February 11-April 29 (12:10-12:50 p.m.), Lambert
Session IV: Thursdays, February 12-April 30 (5:15-5:55 p.m.), RSC

Each session will feature stretching and approximately 30 minutes of walking. Participants will receive an educational walking-related handout after each session. The group setting of this program will offer support and motivation and gives participants an opportunity to socialize during exercise. Nordic wakling poles are available during each session to assist the user in achieving an efficient total body workout that minimizes stress. Each session will have a limited number of poles for participants to use. You may participate in one weekly session or in all four - whatever suits your schedule. When you register online, please only register for one session, no matter how often you plan to attend.


Walk Into Winter
Session I: February 9-March 22
Session II: February 16-March 29

Take part in this six
-week challenge and get tips for increasing your level of physical activity. You’ll receive information and tools to help you get (and keep) moving. This is a self-directed challenge – participants receive one weekly communication via e-mail/mail, log their activities for six weeks, and turn in a completed chart and evaluation at the end.


 Weight Watchers Community Vouchers
This pre-paid savings plan offers you the flexibility of attending Weight Watchers meetings in your community, when and where it suits you best. You benefit from an experienced leader and group support from fellow members. Participants receive 10 vouchers to attend weekly meetings in the community for just $119. If you attend nine of 10 meetings, your fee is reduced to $59.50. Once you have registered to participate in this program, you will receive a letter through campus mail that describes additional steps to complete your enrollment. Participants are eligible for two incentive rounds in their lifetime through either the at-work program or the voucher program.
